About BBL Therapy
BBL energy gently heats up the upper layers of skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas stimulates skin cells to generate new collagen, which helps restore skin to its natural beauty. In addition, the photothermal energy targets and eliminates many of the fine vessels that cause redness, as well as melanin responsible for brown, pigmented lesions.
Commonly treated areas
The most commonly treated areas are those most often exposed to the damaging effects of sun light such as the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.
The desired results can usually be achieved with 2 to 5 skin care treatments, at 2-4 week intervals. You may benefit from additional treatments depending on the severity of your condition.
Minimal down time
BBL skin care procedures are gentle, non-invasive, and safe with virtually no down-time. In most cases you will be able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities right away.
The Photo Rejuvenation Procedure
During the procedure, your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. Clear gel will be applied to the skin to facilitate contact with the device and for cooling. You may briefly feel a rubber band snap or warm sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas.
The skin surface is protected by contact cooling with an internally chilled sapphire crystal plate. There should be minimal to mild discomfort; however, this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment.
The procedure takes a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of the procedure performed. Our medical staff will discuss all of your options with you.
Photo Rejuvenation Aftercare
You will most likely experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage.
Your treated skin will look smoother, fine wrinkles and pores will be less noticeable, and sun spots or uneven pigmentation will fade.
Results depend on your condition, the number of skin care treatments, and the area treated.
Our clinical staff will provide you with complete information about the post treatment care, and it is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided by the nurse or physician.
You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. These will minimize your risk of inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest healing time.
Until fully healed, you will be sensitive to ultra-violet light and must avoid direct sun exposure. Fully cover your skin or use an SPF 30 sun screen whenever you go outdoors.
